Currently ranked 16th in his class of 339, Lu’s academic honors include being nominated for the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award and being invited to study abroad with the People to People program. He has also received the Academic Honors and Perfect Attendance awards.
He has been a member of the Math Club, Science Club, Big Kids Do Science, and the National Society of High School Scholars.
Lu has volunteered his time at Westside School, Pumpkintown, and the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA, where he has worked with the Summer Feeding Program.
Following graduation, Lu plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he will study pre-medicine. His ultimate goal is to become a physician.
A native of Orange County, Calif., Lu has lived in Athens for most of his life with his parents, Hung and Thu Lu, and his brothers, Eldon and Jordon.
